About Marcie

Let’s get to know each other a little better. My name is Marcie and I’m a mom of 5 (yep, 5!), an entrepreneur, a lover of food and someone who always wants to know more! I have a passion for understanding the mind-body connection, understanding how your emotions affect your physical health. My desire to always know more makes me a good one to have in your corner! I’m never satisfied until I have figured things out and if I can’t get you back into balance on my own I will call in one of the amazing practitioners in my tribe to add what they specialize in, to the mix. We have many pieces to our puzzle and an understanding of that allows each person or modality that you are meant to encounter to come to you when the timing is right to fulfill their role in your process. There is no one fix for anything. I am very much a team player, recognizing my strengths and the strengths of others, and how all pieces work together to put the puzzle back together.

My Story

How I Got Started

Just like you, I have struggled with my health. That’s what brought me to BIE, Reiki and Bars in the first place. I have always had an interest and passion for health and wellness. My University experience allowed me to achieve an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology with a minor in Psychology. Even 20 years ago (that’s right, 20 years ago!) I felt strongly about the importance of the mind-body connection. I worked for many years as a Pedorthist, studying gait and and biomechanics, making orthotics and modifying footwear. Although my career involved figuring out how bodies worked, I was struggling to keep my own in balance. Many years of stress had taken it’s toll and my gut was a mess as a result. In an attempt to regain my health I began working with a holisitic nutritionist who taught me that as much as I thought I knew about nutrition, there was so much more I needed to know. She began by talking to me about stress and how it affects the body. I was certain I was ‘managing’ my stress but my body was telling me otherwise. It was screaming at me in the form of Ulcerative Colitis….my gut was angry to say the least! We worked on changing my diet, strengthening my colon (who knew your colon needed to be taken to the gym if the muscles were weak…colon hydrotherapy, not the actual gym! Haha!), being gentle with myself (this was something she told me often), supplementation to help the gut heal and most importantly, asking for help! Dr Google is a wonderful resource at times but having someone who knows what they’re doing guide you through will allow you to get back to a healthy place faster! It was through this Nutritionist that I discovered BioEnergetics, she connected me with a practitioner that helped us to find answers that explained why certain supplements weren’t working for me and why despite my best efforts, there was something missing. As I mentioned previously, there are many pieces to your puzzle. The nutrition piece was essential in providing me with support and knowledge that set me up for the next phase of healing, BioEnergetics. This piece opened me up to a world of physics and energy healing that I knew nothing about but it resonated deeply with me from the moment I was introduced. The more I learned the more I wanted to know. Over the next couple of years, this lead to me a Reiki Master certification and a subsequent certification in Access Bars. Following this path has  allowed me to recognize the stressors in my life and how they had impacted my health more than I realized (or more than I wanted to admit). It showed me that healing isn’t one dimensional. You need to fix your diet but you won’t heal completely without healing your emotional wounds (past and present), managing your current stress level, drinking your water, making self care a priority and as my dear friend reminded me constantly in the beginning of this journey, being gentle with yourself, in all areas of your life. Don’t close yourself off to anything, you never know what incredible modalities will be essential pieces to your healing if you aren’t open to trying new things. Your body is capable of healing itself, when it is in balance. So my goal through BIE, Reiki and Bars…as well as my many referral partners and their modalities, is to restore balance in your body and activate your body’s ability to heal itself. I really is possible!
